LAW Zuiderzeepad
There are also plenty of options for longer routes in Enkhuizen and the surrounding area. For the real mile-eaters, a round Zuiderzee is recommended. The route is marked for walkers with white-red signs and is described as Zuiderzeepad (Long Distance Walk LAW 8, length 492 kilometers).
Westfriesland hiking network
On the walking network of Recreatieschap Westfriesland you can go in many directions: sporty, quiet with the dog or a longer walk on farmland paths. The walking network consists of starting points from which you can start different rounds. So you can put together your own walking route!

Historic port city of Enkhuizen
Every month the bloggers of Westphil Wandelt walk a route of Wandelnetwerk Noord-Holland and write a nice report with beautiful photos. This walk spotlights the Zuiderzee Museum round trip from starting point Enkhuizerzand.
Looking for Dwarf Berend
The children's trail is a fun and educational scavenger hunt for young children ages 3 and up, with a distance of about 2 kilometers. Along the way, children search for the round signs with a gnome on them.
Westfriese Omringdijk regional trail

The Haringstadters walking association has for years organized beautiful walking tours of various distances through Enkhuizen and Westfriesland. The annual Dauwtrappers- and Dommedariswandeltocht are popular walks. You can find the dates of these walks in the agenda.
Nature trail Ecoproject Streekbos
The Eco Project in the Streekbos consists of a pond, a toad pool and a ditch. Through ecological management there is a great biodiversity; more plant species, butterflies, dragonflies, birds, hedgehogs and mice. This way you experience nature in all seasons optimally!

Westfriesland hiking network
Recreatieschap Westfriesland has teamed up with Wandelvrouw to produce a wonderful film about the walking network in Westfriesland.
Wandelnetwerk Westfriesland is part of Wandelnetwerk Noord-Holland and leads along farmland paths, through nature reserves, past historic towns, across the Westfriese Omringdijk and through Medemblik.
On www.wandelnetwerknoordholland.nl you can map out your own route based on nodes. The site also offers ready-made (themed) routes ranging from 2 to 12 kilometers.

In Enkhuizen and its surroundings you can take beautiful walks. The region is characterized by typical Dutch polder landscape, the area along the IJsselmeer and the Markermeer and, of course, the Westfriese Omringdijk.
City walks through Enkhuizen
There are numerous possibilities for shorter routes and fascinating city walks. At VVV Enkhuizen e.o. you can obtain various written out walking route booklets, such as ‘Discover Enkhuizen blue and green’ and brochures of city walks with various topics.
Come and Experience the Golden Age
The richly illustrated booklet ”Come and experience the Golden Age” describes 35 historical icons in West Friesland. Together, the icons form a beautiful route. At the locations themselves you will find a special coin in the sidewalk. You can pick up the booklet for free at VVV Enkhuizen. Or go on a Golden Age tour with the app (found under “golden age tour”) full of virtual stories.
On the basis of this booklet you can walk past the most beautiful places in Enkhuizen and experience for yourself that time has stood still in some places in the town. The booklet is available from VVV Enkhuizen.

The Streekbos offers extensive recreational opportunities. For cyclists, the Streekbos is part of the bicycle route network. The LAW Groot-Frieslandpad runs through the Streekbos. A separate trail has been created for mountain bikers on the north side of the Streekbos. There are also several hiking routes on (semi-)paved and unpaved trails.
Long distance Walks
Enkhuizen and its surroundings are particularly popular with hikers. Not only can you walk the Zuiderzeepad (Lange Afstand Wandelpad LAW 8, length 492 kilometers) also Lange Afstand Wandelpad LAW 14 the Groot-Frieslandpad passes through the inner city of Enkhuizen. This long-distance walk totals 362 kilometers and goes from Bergen aan Zee, via the ferry Enkhuizen – Stavoren, to Leer in Germany.
Westfriese Omringdijk regional trail
The new Westfriese Omringdijk regional trail follows the iconic, centuries-old Westfriese Omringdijk. From Hoorn you walk along the Schermer to Alkmaar and then along the Noordhollands Kanaal to Schagen. Then you head toward Wieringen and Medemblik to return to Hoorn after a beautiful stretch along the IJsselmeer. The Streekpad is included in the Westfriese Wandelnetwerk.
At Wandelnetwerk Noord Holland you will find fun (themed) walks and detours. The starting points are easily accessible by car and usually also by public transport. You can choose from circular walks of 2 to 12 km. In Enkhuizen there are various starting points such as the NS railway station and Enkhuizerzand.
The Route.nl website has more than 100,000 free walking and cycling routes that you can easily download yourself, such as the Historic Town Walk Enkhuizen-Stede Broec (9.67 kilometers).
