A wheelchair-friendly day out
Discover Enkhuizen
In Enkhuizen it seems in many places that time has stood still. On every street corner you can still taste the impressive history of a rich VOC city with allure. Within the old ramparts you will find no fewer than 366 national monuments, each with a unique and fascinating story. The booklet Stadswandeling in Enkhuizen (available at the VVV tourist information office) has been supplemented with alternatives for wheelchair users. So everyone can enjoy the most beautiful places in Enkhuizen.

Zuiderzee Museum
The Zuiderzee Museum is a fun outing for young and old. You will find everything there about life around and on the former Zuiderzee. Wheelchair users are taken into account as much as possible in both the indoor and outdoor Museums. The Outdoor Museum is accessible for wheelchair users, but some streets and houses are very narrow. A map with a wheelchair-friendly route is available at the box office. You can also borrow a wheelchair.

St. Pancras or South Church
The medieval vault paintings in Enkhuizen's Zuiderkerk are the largest in all of the Netherlands. The 54 scenes make up a unique work of art measuring no less than 1,300 square meters. So special that an expert from the Rijksdienst voor het Cultureel Erfgoed even referred to it as the "Night Watch of Enkhuizen. The church is wheelchair accessible and can be visited in the summer months on Tuesdays through Saturdays from 1:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. (rest of the year on Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.).

Western Church
The Westerkerk is counted among the 100 most beautiful national monuments in the Netherlands (on the UNESCO list) and is located in the historic heart of Enkhuizen. In the summer, the church is open to the public. Showpieces of 'de Wester' are the famous choir screen from 1542 and the organ case from 1549. This is considered one of the oldest and most beautiful organ cases in the Netherlands. Beautiful exhibitions are regularly on display. The church is wheelchair accessible.
