Staverse Poortje

In the sea wall on the Wierdijk is the frame of a gate that was rebuilt in 1833 and used to be the connection between the jetty and the city. The shape of the gate was followed during the reconstruction to the earlier situation that appears among other things on an 18th century drawing of the OI House, which is kept in the Museum at the City Hall. A natural stone crowning, XVII, consists of a curved broken pediment in which the coat of arms of Enkhuizen is located.
