Inspired by the wild sounds of Harlem and Chicago jazz from the 1930s and 1940s, The Big Five have established themselves as Berlin’s most authentic swing-era band. Contrary to what the band’s name suggests, the orchestra consists of seven musicians. This combines a driving rhythm section, a fiery horn front line and dynamic song arrangements.

The international band delves deep into the lesser-known repertoire of the Swing Golden Age, as well as a strong emphasis on original compositions. Ranging in size from the core quintet to the full septets. The Big Five are veterans of Berlin’s famous Lindyhop and Balboa dance halls and know how to turn a gentle dance party into a raging frenzy of swing-outs.

With their sharp clothing and an intense passion for authentic swing-era jazz, these ”jazzcats” will definitely make you jump for joy! Tight swing jazz from the 40s.
