Visit the Leef je Uitmarkt in ‘t Zuiderzeedorp and the Schathuys, formerly an indoor and outdoor museum, for free on Saturday 29 or Sunday 30 March. The event where you get a taste of everything the museum has to offer this new season!

Be inspired by live performances and activities that each reveal a piece of the atmosphere during the upcoming events and let yourself go. From the swinging Guitar Festival and the traditional Crafts Week to the creative Tussen Kunst & Kidz week and the culinary Amusetour. Float along in the swan swing carousel and play the best board games to taste the atmosphere of the old Dutch fair . In the Schathuys you can get started on Saturday in the Makerij with the activity Make your own Zuiderzee bag . Don’t miss it and come and enjoy a weekend full of culture, music, games, crafts and culinary surprises!

Costumes and music

Enjoy various costume and music performances during the Leef je Uitmarkt . From the musical formations with Tim Panman who let their tango and flamenco sounds be heard to the Johnny Cash tribute by Joost Botman and Jos Kolenberg – an atmospheric foretaste of the Guitar Festival . The shanty music of the Helius Shanty singers and Onstuimig Schuim bring the Maritime Summer Week to life this year. Admire the Spierdijker Dansers, who perform in their Sunday best and be surprised by the West Frisian group Schermer Dansers who come in beautiful costumes with their own orchestra. You don’t want to miss this!

Culinary Zuiderzee

Treat your taste buds to a taste of the Amusetour . From 15:30 to 17:00, you will walk through the Zuiderzee village under the guidance of an enthusiastic museum teacher and be surprised with two delicious amuses with matching wines at two locations while enjoying Zuiderzee stories. There are a limited number of places available, so book this activity in advance of your visit; the surcharge is € 10, – per person.

Craft demonstrations and sailing

This weekend, the craftsmen bring their craft to life. Admire the demonstrations of the blacksmith, steam washer, cooper, basket maker, rope maker and fishery — an exclusive preview of the Crafts Week ! Step aboard the TX11 in the Marker harbour, a wooden windmill of which there are only two sailing in the entire world. Take a boat trip and listen to the stories about life on board.

Traditional Dutch funfair and Between Art & Kidz

The swan swing carousel will also be set up during the opening weekend and will let young and old experience the ultimate old Dutch fairground feeling. And are you crazy about games and do you want to relax for a while? In coffee house Hoorn you will find various classic board games in extra large format, perfect for the whole family. Taste the atmosphere of the Tussen Kunst & Kidz week while children let their creativity run wild and make a cheerful sock puppet in the creative studio. Face painting is always a hit. Young visitors can be transformed into a dolphin, shark, mermaid or pirate.

The Making in the Schathuys

Every last Saturday of the month, the Makerij in the Zuiderzeemuseum offers a creative experience in which special maker techniques and activities are central. Get started with artisanal block printing on March 29. Maker Liesbeth Beneker, also a sailmaker in the museum, takes you into the world of Old Dutch colorful prints. With her unique stamps, inspired by the typical Zuiderzee patterns, you make your own design. With the stamps you print on canvas: block printing.

The last peat boat

Visit the cinema for an exclusive preview of the documentary The Last Peat Sailor. The film follows Gerard Meijer aboard his ship De Vriendschap, where he lives in the Zuiderzee village and endures the seasons. As a familiar face in the Zuiderzee Museum, Gerard is a living reminder of the past. This documentary is not only an ode to him and his ship, but also to his beloved wife Maartje.
