During the weekend of Open Monument Day, Muziekkring Enkhuizen starts the new season with a special concert by the Dutch Youth String Orchestra.
The Dutch Youth String Orchestra (NJSO) is the string orchestra for talented string players between the ages of 12 and 21. The members come from all over the country and are mostly in young talent classes or preparatory courses at Dutch conservatories.
The aim of the orchestra is to give young professionals a kickstart in their musical development and to give concerts at the highest level. Conductor and violinist Carel den Hertog does this like no other. Musicians from the best Dutch orchestras and ensembles assist the members in the preparation, such as from the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, Amsterdam Sinfonietta and the Dudok Quartet.
The orchestra won first prize last year at the International Youth Music Festival in Vienna, a major achievement, with a performance in the Golden Hall.
