In the Zuiderzee Museum you will find everything about life on and around the former Zuiderzee! The museum focuses on the history, current events and future of the IJsselmeer region. The themes of water, crafts and communities are central to this. Walk back in time through the cobbled streets of the outdoor museum and discover the historic buildings. Then delve into the stories of the thematic exhibitions of the indoor museum!
Indoor museum
The indoor museum is the treasure trove of the Zuiderzee; here the various collections are presented with a contemporary approach. Dive into a Sea full of stories and experience life on the former Zuiderzee in this interactive exhibition! In the anniversary exhibition 'Boer Boris' birthday!' you celebrate the Boer Boris party together. While the children climb on the tractor, play with the farm animals and collect carrots for a festive carrot cake, you enjoy the original Boer Boris watercolors and the story of the makers. This exhibition will run until October 23. Admire the large collection of historic boats in the Schepenhal or take a digital walk through the indoor museum with the 360 degree online tour.
Now in the indoor museum:
Play Mystery in the Zuiderzee Museum, a new interactive game in the indoor museum. It seems as if it is haunted in the Zuiderzee Museum! Help security guard Nadine solve the mystery. Set out with her notebook, special flashlight and magnifying glass in your hand and unravel the mystery in the permanent exhibition Sea of Stories. Search for hidden clues and puzzles along the way and maybe you'll be able to open the mysterious chest at the end. The game is suitable for families with children from 8 years old and is a fun challenge for both children and parents. Book Mystery in the Zuiderzee Museum together with your entrance tickets via the museum's ticket shop. There are 4 time slots available per day on which you can play the game; 10:30, 11:00, 14:30 and 15:00. Please note that this is the start time of the game, so make sure to arrive at the indoor museum on time. The duration of the game is approx.
1.5 hours and costs € 17.50 per group (excluding entrance). Watch the video below for an impression.
Outdoor Museum
The outdoor museum is currently open until Sunday, October 30. Walk back in time through the cobbled streets of the outdoor museum. More than one hundred and forty historic buildings from around the former Zuiderzee form a
complete village. Meet the residents of Urk, visit the cheese warehouse and take a look at the blacksmith. Do you remember what a farmer's loan bank was for? Come and discover it! Hungry for history? Then eat a delicious freshly smoked fish at the fish smokehouse or enjoy something delicious at café Hindeloopen with a beautiful view over the IJsselmeer. From 2 April in the outdoor museum: From 2 April, step into the world of a Zuiderzee child and discover how children had to divide their time between family, chores, chores and school. Free time was scarce! Play the games, listen to the audio clips and view the life-sized, old photos. And are you coming with children? Then of course they enjoy themselves in the children's work street, because… everyone participates!

For the whole family
The Zuiderzee Museum is a fun and educational outing for young and old! For example, the youngest visitors can make a boat out of a clog and play Old Dutch games together such as hopscotch, shuffleboard and skittles. Children can go out like real tourists; with a travelogue in hand in search of the mill, Dutch skies and the cow. Discover it in the Zuiderzee Museum!

The outdoor museum is currently closed.
The indoor museum is open daily from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The museum is closed on Christmas Day and New Year's Day. At the moment, mini concerts take place in the indoor museum on various Sundays.
